Added- Opening a file runs its analysis. One screen and one click less on every document.
- The mode can be chosen before the analysis too, from the bottom bar.
Fixed- Cancelling the save of a redaction still recorded the document in the compliance register, and showed it as redacted. Nothing is written until the file is.
- “Redact” could not be clicked while the “Anoni everywhere” tip was showing.
- The mode chosen on one document changed it for every document after it.
- On a document of several pages, the “Undo” of an exclusion appeared off screen.
- Added
- Social handles are detected (“@handle”).
Fixed- “Copy for AI” could lose the vault key: by reopening the document, by re-analysing it, or by copying twice within the same minute.
- The anonymisation report counted the zones the app finds by itself as hand-drawn.
- The AI connector announced a replacement count that did not match its own breakdown.
Security- A redacted document could keep a readable photo. The black bar stopped short of an image with pale edges, and through the AI connector photos and signatures were not covered at all.
- “Copy for AI”: when the copy failed, the clipboard kept the original document, under a message that blamed the analysis.
- The compliance register used the first line of your document as its document name.
- Added
- A PDF result now shows your pages. The replacements sit where the values were, instead of a plain-text transcript.
Fixed- Accented letters came out as empty boxes on the pseudonymized PDF and on the report.
- Three categories — age, identifier and sensitive data — were detected but invisible in the light theme.
- The journal said “nothing recorded” when it was the filter.
- One document showed three different statuses depending on the screen.
- The AI connector named categories by their internal keys.
- Settings, watched folders, focus rings, buttons and colours: a round of finishing across the app.
Security- A name could stay readable after redaction. Introduced with a title (“Madame Camille Fontaine”), then used without it further down the same document, the second one was left in the clear.
- Added
- Connect your AI to Anoni. Claude or ChatGPT can read your documents through Anoni, so they never see the real data. Settings, the About tab, “Connect an AI” copies the configuration to paste into your client. Nothing to download: the connector ships with the app. Four actions: say what a document holds, read it anonymised, write a pseudonymised or a redacted copy.
- Fixed
- A court registry, a tribunal and a contractual role are no longer replaced. “registered with the Nantes trade registry” came back as a made-up company name, and “the Provider” got two different pseudonyms in one contract. A court is nobody’s personal data, and a role the contract defines itself has to stay readable.
- Fake email addresses no longer carry a first name. “Claire Leroy” could be given “marc.leroy@”: an address naming someone else from the document invents a link.
- On a pseudonymized PDF, the preview now says that the “layout kept” export keeps the pages. It read as though the output were plain text.
- Added
- Find a document by what is inside it. A scan called “scan_2024_03_12.pdf” turns up when you type a word from its text, in Documents and in ⌘K. Applies to documents opened from this version on.
- The home groups documents by state once there are enough for that to help: in progress, finished, missing.
Changed- The vault sits beside the document instead of below it. The passphrase is visible without scrolling.
- Replaced values settle in one by one on the result.
- The drop area takes a single line once you already have documents.
Fixed- “What’s new” opened the French release notes, whatever language the app was in.
- Added
- Enough pseudonyms for a whole case file. Forty people in one document get forty names, not labels.
- The first name follows the title. “Monsieur Jean Dupont” no longer comes back as “Monsieur Sophie Leroy”.
- The document list shows which files have gone. You used to find out by clicking.
Fixed- A document you moved or renamed is no longer a dead end. Anoni offers to find it again, or to drop the row.
- Fixed
- Linux: the engine did not start at all from the AppImage. Anoni stayed stuck on “Preparation failed”.
- Linux: faster startup — the app no longer recompiles its engine on every launch.
- Security
- On some documents AI detection stopped and Anoni fell back to its rules alone, leaving names that should have been redacted readable. The screen said so (“Incomplete analysis”), but the cause was a slightly dense document, not a breakdown. Fixed.
- Added
- Three more date forms are detected: “in September 2024”, “2018-05-08”, and “the 3rd of October 2001”.
Changed- The re-identification risk now sits next to the save button instead of in a panel above it.
Fixed- Dropping a document onto an open one left the page blank.
- In the zoom bar, the “−” rendered with a cut-off edge.
- The licence notices declared GPL code Anoni no longer ships.
- Changed
- Every string in the app was re-read, in French and in English.
- “Reset” now says it erases the vaults too.
- Settings: the global shortcut and updates move to “General”, launch reporting to “Data”. All three sat under “Detection”.
- “Usage statistics” is now “Report my launches”.
Fixed- The notification bell and the document toolbar’s tools rendered without their styling.
- In the document toolbar, hovering a tool wiped the highlight off the active one, so you could no longer tell which was armed.
- Error and update banners lose their coloured background.
- Two messages claimed more than Anoni could verify: after a failed purchase, and about the state of AI detection.
- Added
- Usage statistics. Anoni reports at launch that it was opened, one line per day. No documents, no content. Settings lets you turn it off.
Changed- The app’s buttons finally follow one grammar: a Cancel looks like a Cancel on every screen.
- The clipboard panel offers one clear action instead of two identical buttons.
- Added
- Your documents keep their layout. A pseudonymised Word, Excel, PDF or scan comes back in its own format, with its tables and images. Before, everything came back as text.
- Decoding gives you a Word document, not just text.
Fixed- Redacting a name in a Word file no longer flattens the whole paragraph.
- The empty Documents screen now offers to open one.
- On Linux the shortcut shown was the wrong one.
Security- The address behind a link inserted in a Word file stayed in the document after redaction.
- An anonymised Excel workbook kept the names of the people who had annotated it, and the addresses behind its links.
- A signature boxed by hand rode intact out of a pseudonymised document.
- An export that could replace nothing saved itself anyway.
- Changed
- Anoni now needs macOS 13.4 or newer. Below that, the library that opens and redacts PDFs did not load, so the app was promising more than it could keep. On macOS 11, 12 or 13.3, do not install this update — your current version keeps working. Write to hello@anoni.dev for the last compatible version.
- On Intel Macs, detection moves up a version. On Apple Silicon it needs macOS 14; below that Anoni detects with its French rules and says so plainly instead of leaving you waiting.
- Settings shows your system, and whether AI detection runs on it.
- On a Mac that is too old, Anoni no longer offers an update and explains why, instead of installing one that would refuse to open.
- Added
- Re-analyse a document without reopening it. Useful after adding a word to your dictionary.
- Open the exported file, or its folder, from Anoni.
Fixed- Anoni really updates itself now. Nothing was being installed.
- Windows: the activation window can be moved.
- Towns whose name starts with an article are detected at last.
- A postcode no longer swallows the next field’s label, and invoice amounts are no longer marked.
Security- Windows: reinstalling by hand could erase your documents, your register and your cases. They are now backed up and put back.
- Fixed
- Anoni says it is installing when you quit during an update.
- Fixed
- Anoni really updates itself now. One stalled download blocked all the others.
- Quitting during an install no longer cancels it.
- An update that fails says why, in Settings.
- The update button stays visible.
- Added
- The AI’s answer decodes. The “Copy for AI” shortcut now keeps the key: paste the answer into Decode, it opens already filled, and your real names come back in one click.
Fixed- The decode count counts people, not mentions. A name quoted three times read “3 items restored”.
- What could not be decoded is said, instead of passing in silence.
Security- With realistic pseudonyms, decoding could return a value nobody ever wrote. A city replaced in one document could serve as a pseudonym in another of the same case, and decoding chained the two.
- Added
- Anoni opens your email. Drop an .eml: headers, body and attached message are handled. The attached files are not opened, and Anoni writes which ones.
- Correct a detection’s category. A company that is really a person is fixed in one click, and what you decided for it follows.
- EU VAT numbers are detected.
Fixed- The watermark screen has a hierarchy again: the form leads, the preview follows.
- Added
- Updates install themselves: Anoni downloads the new version in the background and applies it when you quit. You can switch it off in Settings.
Fixed- The English interface is written in English, not translated from French.
- Counts agree with what they count: “0 document analysed”, not “0 documents analysed”.
- The export button names the file correctly (“Save the redacted image”).
Security- On an English document, dates stayed readable. They are now found the way they are in French.
- Fixed
- The re-identification risk names the words it found, instead of repeating “function” once per officer.
- The risk panel moved to the bottom of the review, beside the button, instead of sitting in front of the document.
Security- Windows: reinstalling Anoni over your copy no longer erases your cases, your register or your licence.
- Windows: “Reset” no longer leaves vaults unreadable — it used to stop halfway, deleting the key and keeping what it opens.
- Added
- A pseudonymised Word document comes back as Word, with its headings, numbered articles, tables and formatting.
Changed- The passphrase reveal button can be reached with the keyboard.
- A screen reader announces the detected word, not just its category.
- The activity centre closes with Escape and gives focus back.
- Coloured labels are easier to read, in both themes.
Fixed- “Copy for AI” now says when the model did not run.
- In the detections filter, “keep all” acts only on what you can see, not the whole category.
- Removing a black zone can be undone.
- “Anonymize a term” finds DUPONT when you type Dupont, and says when the term is already covered.
- A moved or deleted file says so, instead of reporting an engine that is starting.
- A batch attestation states whether the model read the files.
- Every file a batch writes is read back, and the row says so.
- A watched folder reports the files it skipped.
- Picking a profession applies its mode to the first document.
- A rejected drop on Filigrane names the formats it accepts.
- Added
- Watermark: mark a document before you send it.
- Each copy can carry a code, so you know who it was issued to.
Fixed- “Tools” is back in the menu: PDF to Word conversion is reachable again.
- Changed
- Resetting Anoni also erases dossiers and their vaults.
Fixed- Analysis no longer freezes after an interrupted download.
- Switching documents mid-analysis no longer blocks the next one.
- Your older anonymisations stay reversible.
- A banner no longer covers the what’s-new note.
Security- A word from your dictionary is masked everywhere, and the name around it too.
- A company name is no longer cut in half.
- A house-number range is masked in full, spaced out or not.
- A fax of several pages is redacted on every page.
- Advanced properties of a redacted Word or Excel file no longer name anyone.
- Added
- Anoni tells you what changed after each update.
Changed- Detection covers addresses and company names better.
Fixed- A house-number range is masked in full.
- The PDF to Word converter reads scanned pages.
- Status messages stay at the top instead of covering the document.
Security- A redacted Word or Excel file no longer names anyone in its properties.
- Excel cell comments are read and masked. They were not read at all.
- On a cropped PDF, the bars landed beside the text.
- A scanned page could go unread.
- A clickable email address survived inside a redacted Word file.
- A town could stay readable after its postcode.
- An analysis could land on the next document.
- A dictionary term could make Anoni redact less, instead of more.
- Added
- The journal records every anonymisation, including “Copy for AI”, the ⌘⇧A panel and watched folders.
Fixed- Your personal dictionary applies in the ⌘⇧A panel and in watched folders too.
- The ⌘⇧A panel follows the active profile’s pseudonym style.
- An analysis is no longer announced as complete when a model failed along the way.
- Resetting Anoni also clears the personal dictionary.
- Added
- Your Pro spaces on the home screen, with what they hold.
Fixed- “Dossiers” is back. Creating a case works again.
- An analysis could run with fewer models than expected, without saying so.
- Analysing during setup no longer freezes the app.
- The journal reads at a glance: one line per document.
Security- An image or spreadsheet processed in batch was not redacted.
- A scan with no detected text was set aside, signatures included.
- A company name stopped at its first lowercase word.
- An address could vanish instead of being masked.
- Added
- The toolbar sits at the top of the document: tool, zoom, page number and a preview of the redacted file.
- V, H and Z arm selection, the hand and the black zone. ⌘+, ⌘- and ⌘0 for zoom.
- Redact a PDF in one click from the review step.
Fixed- Wheel zoom follows the pointer. What you are looking at stays where it is.
- A scanned document no longer needs two clicks on “Analyser”.
- Fewer black rectangles on a scan: recovered text is read instead of covered.
Security- Whole lines of a scan were never read, especially on a slightly tilted page.
- A scanner streak could blacken half a page, text included.
- The black bars stay on their line.
- Changed
- Anoni reads scans better: more personal data found, fewer false detections.
Fixed- The English model detected nothing.
- One person could receive two pseudonyms on a scan.
- Accents no longer disappear from a scanned document.
- When your machine cannot run a model, Anoni suggests one that works.
Security- A page lying sideways could be read upside down, and most of its text went unread.
- Whole lines of a scan were not read. What is not read is neither detected nor redacted.
- The final export check skipped rotated pages. It called them clean without being able to read them.
- Added
- A toolbar above the document: tool, zoom, moving between detections, and a preview of the redacted file.
- Black zones work on a photo or a scan, where they are needed most.
Fixed- Your decisions are kept. Reopen a document and your choices are there.
- One person gets one pseudonym, however the name is written and even if a scan misreads it.
- No more phantom detections on a scan.
- The app comes back to the front after an update.
Security- On a tilted scan, a whole line could go unread, so never detected and never redacted.
- On a tilted scan, the black bar could land beside the name. If you redacted sideways scans, check them again.
- Added
- Signatures, initials and stamps are covered, and a zone is removed in one click.
- Export to anonymised PDF, not only to a text file.
- Side by side review after a redaction, without changing view to fix an oversight.
Fixed- Automatically covered zones apply in batch and in watched folders too.
- One person always gets the same pseudonym, with or without accents.
- Calmer notifications: recent events stay a moment in the top right, and the last one can be undone.
Security- Anoni rereads the saved file and warns you if a masked value is still readable in it.
- The document name no longer appears in the report or in the compliance journal.
- The exported file name no longer reveals which document it came from.
- Identifiers added to signed documents are masked too.
- Changed
- Added
- Guides and help: direct access to the community from the left bar.
Changed- Detection is markedly more precise, especially on addresses and organisations. A name recognised once is masked throughout the document.
- Added

- Added
