The Anoni app

Anoni runs entirely on your computer. Detection and anonymization of your documents happen 100% locally: no document, no excerpt and no personal data is sent over the internet, neither to us nor to a third party. Your files never leave your Mac or PC.

On first launch only, the app may download the technical components it needs: the runtime from our distribution space (GitHub) and the detection models from Hugging Face. Those downloads contain none of your data.

At each launch the app checks its licence: it sends your key, an installation identifier (drawn at random, not your hardware), your operating system and the installed version. We keep the date, along with the most recent system and version, which tells us which versions are still in use. No document, no excerpt, no statistic about what you anonymize.

This site

The public pages of this site set no cookies. If you sign in to your licence space, a strictly necessary session cookie is set, then deleted when you sign out.

We use Vercel analytics, without cookies and without individual tracking: aggregate statistics (page views, countries), nothing that identifies you. No advertising tracker. When you click a download link, we count the click. System and date, nothing else.

Like any website, our host (Vercel Inc.) may keep technical connection logs (IP address, date, page visited) for security and for the proper running of the service. We do not use those logs for profiling.

Downloads

Anoni installers are distributed from the Vercel Blob CDN. Downloading an installer requires no account and sends us no data identifying you.

Our processors

To run the site and the free licence we use three providers: Vercel Inc. (site hosting and analytics), Neon (the licence database) and Resend (sending email). All three are established in the United States, covered by the EU standard contractual clauses. They process this data on our behalf. Your documents pass through none of them: they do not leave your machine.

Free licence

When you request a free key, we store your email address, your key, and at activation the date, the operating system and the version of the app. No hardware identifier is collected and no document leaves your machine. The email carrying your key is transactional; product news is only sent if you have explicitly consented. When you make the request, your IP address is kept temporarily (up to 24 hours) for the sole purpose of limiting abuse, then deleted automatically. This data is kept for as long as your licence exists. To have it deleted, write to us. The app keeps working after activation.

At launch the app reports to our servers that it has been opened: your key, the random installation identifier, the system and version, plus today's DATE, the rounded hour and your time-zone offset. This tells us how many people use Anoni and on which versions. We keep a single row per day and per licence: we know that on a given day you opened the app, and at which rounded hours, never how many times nor in what order. No document, no name, no content is sent. You can turn this off in Settings.

If you leave your address to be told about the Pro edition, we store only that address. One email at release, nothing else.

Your rights (GDPR)

The data controller is the publisher of Anoni (see the legal notice). You have a right of access, rectification, erasure and objection over the data tied to your licence: your email, your key, the activation data, your system and version, and the date of the last check. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr). For any request, write to hello@anoni.dev.

Governing version

Anoni is published from France and this policy is written under the GDPR as applied there. This English text is provided for convenience; in case of any difference, the French version is the one that applies.
