Anonymize a FEC.

A FEC, the French file of accounting entries, holds the names of your clients, your suppliers and sometimes your employees. To hand it to a contractor, an analysis tool or an AI, you can remove those names and keep the amounts, accounts and dates. Anoni does it column by column, on your computer.

    Open « Database »

    It is in Anoni's sidebar, under « Tools ». Click « Choose a table » and select the FEC. The .txt file is accepted, whether its columns are separated by tabs or by « | ».

    Give each column a rule

    Anoni reads the header and suggests a rule per column. Amounts, accounts, dates and entry numbers stay on « Keep ». Switch « CompAuxLib » to « Pseudonymize »: it is the client or supplier name. For « EcritureLib », keep « Search the text »: Anoni finds the names and numbers slipped into the label.

    Run the anonymization

    Click « Anonymize ». Anoni writes a copy next to the file, under the same name followed by « -anonymise », with the same separator and the same 18 columns. The original FEC is not changed.

    Keep the vault

    If a column was pseudonymized, Anoni saves an encrypted vault next to it, protected by a passphrase. Keep it: without it, the real values do not come back.

What a FEC is.

The fichier des écritures comptables is the export of a company's whole accounting year, defined by article A47 A-1 of the French tax procedure code. One line per entry, 18 required fields, separated by a tab or by the « | » character. Its name follows the pattern SirenFECYYYYMMDD, with the closing date.

Where the personal data is.

It sits in a few columns, always the same ones.

  • CompAuxLib: the auxiliary account label, that is the client or supplier name. Often a person: an individual, a tradesperson, an employee.
  • EcritureLib: the entry label. « Virement M. Dupont », « Salaire Claire Fontaine », sometimes a phone or an account number.
  • PieceRef: the document reference, which can hold a name or a file number.
  • CompteLib: rarely, when an account carries a person's name.

What stays intact.

Amounts (Debit, Credit), account numbers, dates and entry numbers are not touched. The same client gets the same pseudonym in « CompAuxLib » and in the labels: entries stay linked to each other, and the analysis holds.

What the copy is not.

The anonymized copy is for sharing: with a contractor, an analysis tool, an AI. It is not the FEC to hand to the tax authority, which remains the one from your accounts.

Free up to 1,000 rows.

The free version handles tables up to 1,000 rows. A year's FEC often has far more: beyond that, databases are part of Anoni Pro.

Nothing leaves.

The file is read and rewritten on your computer. Neither the FEC nor its copy is sent anywhere.

Frequently asked

Are the amounts changed?

No. Their columns stay on « Keep », which Anoni suggests on its own.

Can the real names be recovered?

Yes, with the vault and its passphrase: « Bring back the real values » puts the original names back into the copy.

Is a pseudonymized FEC still personal data?

Yes: the vault leads back to the names. For it not to be, those columns have to be redacted, and no label may let anyone be recognised.
